Pros and Cons of Communist Russia
Each group will create a presentation about one aspect of Communist Russia. Each presentation is expected to include a 1 page written summary of your topic, an illustration, and an organizational visual aid (web, flow, chart) Make sure that no one person is working on the same aspect of the project at the same time. It will be very difficult to get this project completed if you don't divide the work among the group members.
Communism: is a form of unlimited government in which the state owns the farms and factories and decides what will be grown and produced
Example: After World War 1 Russia experienced a severe food shortage and fuel shortage. As a result, people turned to a new powerful leader to solve the countries problems and get people back to work.
Group 1: Information
Students will explain what a Communist government is and look at the role of the former Soviet Union as a leader in world Communism. They will examine what life was like in pre-communist times in Russia and compare it to life in post-communist Russia. Be aware that you should simply be sticking to the facts, and try not to include your opinions and bias.
